Deconstruction, Reconstruction & Adventures in Paint Application.
Let’s get past the preciousness of our paintings and bravely venture into creative paint application, formidable compositions, and pushing boundaries by getting comfortable being uncomfortable.
This workshop is not for the faint of heart. This workshop is for those that want to push themselves and their art, those that want to break habits that keep them in their existing painting mode and those that want to create new habits that will surprise them.
Three-Dimensional Workshop
The First Dimension
Always, to create a repeatable process for developing a painting involving shape, value and focal point. This becomes a tool that you can use in any situation. This is one of many that you, as an artist, will acquire over the years, but it is important to understand and perfect each of these tools. We will work to develop and perfect shape-value-focal point.
The Second Dimension
Beyond the brush, you will be introduced to new tools and processes to add texture, movement and energy to your paintings.
With Edge Awareness, you will discover the impact paint application and edge control bring to your paintings.
We will also investigate the impact of color by exploring the nuances of greys and developing tools/habits to maintain the color/value relationship.
The Third Dimension
Here’s the hardest, but most beneficial aspect of the workshop – letting go, going beyond the preciousness of a painting and finding the expression of,and collaboration with, the painting itself. You will be introduced to deconstruction, finding emerging images, and choosing the story you want to tell.
